We recently had a student arrive at Castle School who brought with them 3 large suitcases for a 3 month stay. While we understand the longing for reminders of home, this is not the most economical way to travel!

If you are planning a trip to the UK and just cannot decide what to bring, follow our guide and avoid getting charged at the airport!

Pack this:

  • Underwear (two weeks’ worth)
  • Socks (two weeks’ worth)
  • Long sleeve shirts (winter)
  • Short sleeve shirts (summer)
  • Sweatshirt/ hoodie (2-3)
  • Jeans/ Khakis (2-3 pair)
  • Shorts (summer)
  • Skirts (summer)
  • Workout clothes if needed
  • Pajamas
  • Swimsuit (summer)
  • Coat/Jacket (I recommend at least 2 – one for cold weather, and one that is water resistant)
  • At least one nice outfit for heading out on the town
  • Flip flops/ sandals (summer)
  • Trainers or boots
  • Cold weather gear i.e. gloves/ mittens, hat, scarf (winter)

Don’t pack:

  • Loads of toiletries! They weigh loads and you can buy them here.
  • Your teddy bear collection! We know you miss home but Skype the teddy instead!

Pack sensibly and you shouldn’t need more than one large suitcase. Happy packing
